Are you considering a dermal filler to reduce wrinkles, add fullness to your face, and restore a more youthful–looking appearance? Today’s dermal fillers not only restore lost volume to your face, but also help stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. At Advanced Cosmetic Laser Center, we offer a variety of dermal soft-tissue fillers, including, Sculptra®, Radiesse®, Perlane®, Juvederm®, or Restylane®.

Each of these products are different, and each has its distinct advantages. Dr. Janee Steinberg, Board Certified Dermatologist and Medical Director at Advanced Cosmetic Laser Center, will recommend the appropriate dermal filler(s) to accomplish your facial enhancement goals. Dermal fillers are an excellent, non-surgical, facial rejuvenation option. At Advanced Cosmetic Laser Center, Dr. Janee Steinberg uses only FDA approved products, and does not use any products manufactured outside of the United States.

Sculptra® Aesthetic has been used in Europe since 1999, under the name New-Fill, for a variety of facial volume and contour deficiencies. Approved for use in 2004, Sculptra® Aesthetic is used in the US for large-volume corrections and loss of facial volume.

Sculptra® Aesthetic is recommended by Dr. Steinberg to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles, including sunken cheeks, temple indentations, and hollows under the eyes. However, Dr. Steinberg advises that Sculptra® Aesthetic is not recommended for use in the lips and the periorbital area. A key benefit of Sculptra® Aesthetic is the effects can last up to two years after a full treatment course which requires several individual treatments to maximize your results.

Sculptra® Aesthetic is composed of a new facial injectable formula called poly-L-lactic acid. Poly-L-lactic acid has been used by physicians for decades and is FDA-approved. Sculptra® Aesthetic aids the body in producing collagen in the treated areas. This is important because as we age collagen decreases and wrinkles begin to appear. Collagen is a major component that keeps skin youthful-looking and smooth.

According to Dr. Janee Steinberg, Sculptra® Aesthetic is an excellent facial restoration procedure. She notes that since it takes some time for your body to manufacture the new collagen Sculptra® Aesthetic is helping to produce, the results are not immediately seen. Typically, Dr. Steinberg schedules two to four injection sessions, about one month apart. But the wait is worth the reward, as the resulting new facial volume is your own tissue. You will notice that the collagen layers are soft, even and very naturally looking.

Dr. Steinberg’s patients report some swelling and minor tenderness after injections of Sculptra® Aesthetic. Swelling can be helped by applying an ice pack. These minor symptoms usually go away in a few hours to a few days. You will be given specific post-treatment care instructions, which also include massaging the area five times a day for five minutes for five days (5-5-5-post treatment care) after each treatment session.

It should be noted that Sculptra® Aesthetic can last up to two years and is often referred to a “facelift in a bottle.”

If you’re considering a non-surgical facial enhancement that will correct facial wrinkles and folds, schedule a consultation with Dr. Janee Steinberg. Dr. Steinberg will discuss the type of tissue filler Sculptra®, Radiesse®, Restylane®, Juvéderm®, Sculptra® or Perlane®, which will accomplish your lip augmentation and facial volumizing goals.
